Interview: Andrea & Fabio from Arthemis

Last night, I had the pleasure of interviewing Andrea Martongelli (Guitarist) & Fabio Dessi (Vocalist) of Italian Thrash Metal band Arthemis before seeing them play at The Waterfront in Norwich. What did these guys have to say?

BOOZE:

What’s last thing you drank?

Andrea: Gin & Tonic
Fabio: Yes, Gin & Tonic for me too.

What was your first ever alcoholic drink? How’d that go for you?

Andrea: White wine. A lot. Or red wine.
Fabio: Beer probably.

One beer. One Spirit. One Non-Alcoholic drink. Go:

Andrea: Guinness, Grappa & Orange Juice.
Fabio: Guinness, Jack Daniels & Coca-cola

What’s the most absurd thing you’ve done while drunk?

Andrea: Lots of stupid things.
Fabio: Shit in my pants whilst on the sofa.

BEATS:

Why’d you get into the music industry?

Andrea: I don’t know. It just kinda happened. We started a band then someone told us they liked us and it just went from there.

What’s the first ever musical artist you ever remember enjoying listening to?

Andrea: Metallica – Kill ‘em All.
Fabio: Black Sabbath.

At this point, ZP Theart (I AM I, ex-Dragonforce) comes into the room and leans into the mic...

ZP: He likes men too!

If you could only ever listen to 3 musical artists again, who would they be?

Andrea: Anthrax, Black Sabbath & Megadeth
Fabio: Iron Maiden, Metallca & Whitesnake

Guilty pleasures?

Fabio: Deep Purple

Bites:

What’s the last thing you ate?

Andrea: A chicken wrap

One Fruit. One Vegetable. One Meat. One Cheese:

Andrea: Watermelon, No vegetables, Beef & Pecorino because my father is from Sardinia.
Fabio: Peach, Salad, Beef & Mozzarella.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?

Andrea: When we were in Japan touring, so many strange things. I don’t remember the name but I remember the taste; it was like eating some wheels from a car.
Fabio: Worms. Live worms and they were really fucking good.

BONUS ROUND:

What sports do you follow?

Andrea: Boxing and volleyball.
Fabio: Fishing.

I disagreed that fishing is a sport...

Fabio: Fishing is more of a hobby but it’s still a sport!

What would you do if you came face to face with an antelope? [Courtesy of Jadeski]

Andrea: I would run! I came face to face with a deer one time... they look so small but when you see them right in front of you and you see the muscles, you just run away. They run away as well but y’know. This is a good question!
Fabio: I’d ride it!

This was a really fun interview; sadly, the room was really noisy when the door opened so I couldn’t hear everything on the audio recording but that’s alright; I got the good stuff!

Thoroughly enjoyed talking to the guys and they loved it too which is my aim!

Lidl Currywurst - A Review

Ah, Currywurst! A Berlin institution and indeed, if you've been to Berlin and didn't eat Currywurst whilst you were there, I'm not sure we can be friends. My first Currywurst was on my first ever trip to Berlin in August 2016 where I stumbled upon a stall at the Street Theatre Festival on Alexanderplatz; I grabbed a cheap €3 plate as well as a beer and sat in the warm sun, and fell in love. Later on that trip I visited the Currywurst museum (yes, such a thing exists) and although a novelty, I feel it was possibly the wurst (SEE WHAT I DID THERE?) eleven euros I've ever spent. The premise of Currywurst, for those who don't know, is simple: It's effectively sliced boiled and fried sausage coated in a sweet curry ketchup and topped with curry powder; you'll usually find it served with chips and mayonnaise on nearly every street corner in Berlin. Beats: God Seed – I Begin review

God Seed was created by Norwegian black metal legends Gaahl and King Ov Hell when they left Gorgoroth in 2009. Whilst they were with Gorgoroth, they played hundreds of sold out shows culminating in their absolutely fucking massive, legendary performance at Wacken 2008. I am proud to say that I was there and it was absolutely fucking mindblowing. Everything you think of black metal was true. Fire, darkness and pentagrams. Fucking yes. I’ve always been a massive black metal fan. None of my friends were ever really that into it but I’ve loved it. It’s a genre that has always rattled cages, scared people and even made headline news. It’s just so dark and disgusting. I’ve been excited about this album for a while but y’know, I really have to be in the right mood for Black Metal. Today, this is the case.
